When you think Disney World during Christmas what pops into your mind? For me, I always think of the Christmas Parade. I also think magical and amazing decorations and just that ‘disney feel’. Right?
My favorite time to visit Disney – whether it’s Disneyland or Disney World is during the Christmas holidays. I love the magical feeling, I love being surrounded by Christmas and I couldn’t wait for our latest trip…I had my Mickey Christmas hat, my t-shirts and my christmas lanyard all ready.
Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed this year. I was expecting more – more than just large trees and boughs on the light posts. I was expecting the parks to be decked out with Christmas and while you could see the decor, it wasn’t as much as I’d been hoping. Maybe my memories of our past trips are tarnished. Maybe Disneyland does more since it has less parks…maybe I’m just losing my memory – but I know I wasn’t the only one disappointed in my family, my daughters were as well.
Regardless – Christmas at Disney is magical and special and I thought I’d share a few of the photos I’d taken.
Every park has a large tree that is decked out special for that park. I loved to see them all and tried to take as many photos as I could. Disney Springs has a Christmas tree walk you can go down and each main character from their movies have their own tree! (my favorite was Beauty and the Beast, obviously!)
Disney World wasn’t as decorated as I thought it would be. I waited for the Very Merry Mickey’s Christmas Party to see if they would have more…and other than a few big balls placed strategically throughout the park…not so much.
Another thing I’ll mention…because we stayed in a Bungalow at the Polynesian Resort, I thought for sure there would be a Christmas tree in our place – but I was wrong. To be fair – I kind of expected this due to having a tree in our room at the Animal Kingdom resort two years ago…if that was just a room, then the bungalows – Disney’s latest residences – should have a tree, right?
It would be a nice idea – especially for the price. Just a IMO.
After 4 years of spending our Christmas vacation at the Disney Parks, I think the next time we go – it’ll be during a different season. Mix it up a little, right?
